New article on calculating the ecosystem services of a drained soil under climate change scenarios

How will the ecosystem services provided by soils evolve in the future: a study of a drained soil in Ile-de-France

The article by Chalhoub et al. (2025), published in the European Journal of Soil Science, studies the ecosystem services of a drained soil on the Saclay plateau in Ile-de-France (France). Measurements of 5 ecosystem services and wheat yield were used to parameterise Stics for this soil type, thereby improving the accuracy of the model's output. The model was then applied to 3 climate scenarios to estimate future changes in these services and in wheat yields. While the ecosystem services studied seem resilient to climate change, wheat yields tended to stagnate.
